Do You Have What it Takes to be a Navy SEAL?
My workout routine normally involves running and some strength training with free weights. I typically run 3 miles, 5 days a week with some weight training thrown in for good measure. While I find it is easy to maintain a healthy diet I find it very difficult to keep my interest in an exercise routine. I was searching for some workout variations and I ran across the Navy Seals Workout routine for new recruits. This workout plan is a suggested routine for high school graduates who are trying to prepare for the demanding Navy SEALs Physical Screening Test.
While it certainly isn’t necessary for me to achieve this level of fitness I still find it interesting and challenging. I have hit a plateau in the last few months and I am in need of a variation to get out of my rut. I think I could probably manage the running but the push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and swimming get ridiculous as you approach week the later weeks of the program. For example, the goals of the Category II workout in week 6:
Category II Week #6 Goals:
20X20 PUSHUPS
20X25 SITUPS
5X12 PULL UPS
20X15 DIPS
Swim continuously for 75 min. with fins.
So do you think you have what it takes to train for the Navy SEALs? I see the maximum age for acceptance into the Navy SEALs is 28 so it looks like I “missed the boat” several years ago.
