Take a Nap to Avoid Sleep Debt

Nap TimeI think people fall into two categories when it comes to napping: those who nap and those who don’t. I certainly fall into the napper category. I have always had the luxury of being able to fall asleep anywhere and at any time.

As I get older I think that napping becomes a more important part of maintaining a healthy level of stress and overall wellness. It is common knowledge that most of us need 8 hours of sleep to function at an optimum level. I don’t need a scientist to tell me how much sleep I need as my body will let me know every time. I imagine the amount of sleep people need varies for each person.

The problem with napping is that most of us are tied to a very rigid schedule that doesn’t allow us the time for a regular nap. Perhaps sleeping in a pod at a MetroNaps is an option for those nappers lucky enough to have one close by. A 30 minute power nap is all I really need to help me stay alert and it does wonders to improve my mood.

If I don’t get 8 hours of solid sack time every night I am a zombie the next day. Better let me have my nap or I might be cranky.
