Have Fork, Will Travel
Have Fork, Will Travel is a new show premiering in 2007 on Food Network. The show follows Zane Lamprey, a food lover and comedian, as he travels around the world to discover “food, culture and everything in between.” I’ve been following the show this season and I think it is a nice departure from the standard fare on Food Network.

First off, you need to understand that Zane is a comedian, not a cook. If you are a serious food connoisseur, you might not appreciate Zane’s lighthearted take on world cuisine. Zane is a real goofball who uses a lot of self-deprecating humor making for a fun and entertaining show.

If you want a serious show about food then you need to watch Anthony Bourdain and No Reservations on the Travel Channel. I’ve been a big fan of Bourdain since he hosted “A Cooks Tour” on Food Network, but sometimes it just feels good to laugh.

Zane hosts another show on Mojo called Three Sheets. Three Sheets is a “show about drinking” that also follows Lamprey around the world as he learns about the local drink and local drinking customs. I actually like Three Sheets better than Have Fork because he can really cut loose (the Munich episode is a personal favorite).

Time will tell if Zane can win over the hearts of the foodies. Either way, both shows are on my DVR schedule.
