Yogi TeaThe Yogi Tea company was founded by Yogi Bhajan. While he was teaching Kundlalini Yoga in America during the 60s, he would share a special tea blend with his class, made up of healing spices- cardamon, cinnamon, clove, ginger and black pepper. His students began calling this tea blend “Yogi Tea”. These 5 spices are still included in several Yogi tea blends, for both their delicious taste and overall effect of calming the spirit and supporting the immune system.

They have over 50 blends of healing teas that are based on ancient Ayervedic medicine formulas. Ayerveda is a health & healing system that was developed in India 5,000 years ago. Ayervedic medicine teaches that in order for an individual to maintain good health, they must maintain an equal state of balance of mind, body and spirit. This is achieved through diet, exercise, herbal medicine and meditation.

Recently, they recategorized their entire line of tea blends and changed all of their packaging, in order to reflect the Ayervedic teachings of harmonizing the mind, body and spirit. Their mind tea blends nourish and stimulate the brain, helping you to think more clearly. The body teas support the immune system and treat various physical ailments- headaches, asthma, colds & flu etc… The spirit teas help you to feel calm and zen.

I’ve tried several Yogi tea blends from each category and have had great results- plus, they’re very aromatic and taste delicious! My favorite Yogi Tea is their Balance Blend Tea. It has 23 herbs and spices that soothe the nerves and calm an overactive mind. It also has several immune boosting ingredients, which is an added bonus. I drink this tea every evening, when I’m feeling stressed out from the day’s hectic activities and it works like a charm.

For a limited time, while supplies last, you can order some free tea samples from their website. Currently, they’re sending out samples of Meditative Calm, Mexican Sweet Chili and Berry Anti-Oxidant. While you’re at the website, you can also use their store locater, to find a local store that carries their teas. Most health food stores, including Whole Foods carry the Yogi Tea line. You can also order directly from them online, if you don’t have access to their teas in your area.
