Soyabella Soymilk MakerI made the switch from milk to soymilk many years ago. I don’t necessarily have anything against milk and I still use it for cooking, I guess I just lost the desire to drink it.

When I started out drinking soymilk there weren’t a lot of options so I stuck with the Silk brand that was readily available at my supermarket and I was pretty happy with it. I used it in place of milk on my cereal and I would drink the occasional glass of it with a meal.

I decided to buy a soymilk maker after I saw a soy milk recipe on the back of a bag of soy flour. I did a little research and I came upon the Soyabella soymilk maker. I bought the machine in hopes that I wouldn’t need to buy soymilk at the store anymore. I figured I could just stock up on soybeans and I have everything I need since all you need to make soymilk is water and soybeans.

The machine works much like a coffee maker. There is a grinder that grinds the presoaked soybeans, and the water is sent through a small screen to filter out the ground soybeans. It takes about 15 minutes for the whole process to be completed.

The machine can be used to make milk from a wide variety of items like raw almond milk, cashew milk, and rice milk, as well as rice paste, sesame paste, and porridge. You can also use it as a coffee grinder and mill for spices but I’m not sure why you would.

The biggest pain with making your own soymilk is the clean up. It takes a bit of work to get the machine cleaned up or else the screens will become clogged. It also takes a bit of planning as you have to soak the beans for at least 4 hours before using.

How does it taste? By experimenting with some ingredients I was able to recreate a pretty decent vanilla.

In summation it is nice to be able to control what goes into what you are eating. The soymilk maker accomplishes that as well as maybe saving you a trip to the supermarket.
