The Ikan is a New Way to Get the Groceries

The IkanI have a love-hate relationship with grocery shopping. I like to cook but I don’t really enjoy fighting the other shoppers in the cramped aisles at the grocery store.

The Ikan is a device that might assist you with or even replace your grocery shopping altogether. The Ikan allows you to scan the bar code on your discarded food containers and then adds the item to an online shopping cart. Once you have built up enough items for a trip to the store you just go online at ikan.net and review your shopping cart and place your order. Your groceries will then be delivered to your home or you can pick them up.

The Ikan is priced at $400 and operates using your home wireless network. The Ikan will determine what retailers are available in your area based on your zip code once it is registered.

In the defense of grocery shopping I must say there is something nice about being able to see and touch the food you are buying. It’s also good to get out of the house and interact with the people I’ve come to know working at my local store. Either way, this very George Jetson indeed.
