Antibiotics May Increase Risk For Ear Infection
Antibiotics, thanks to overuse, often do more harm than good. For instance, repeated use in treating acute ear infections in children increases the risk of recurrent ear infections by 20 percent. Researchers have found that 63 percent of children given amoxicillin experienced a recurrent ear infection within three years, compared with 43 percent of children given a placebo at the time of their initial infection.
