One-third of parents oppose H1N1 vaccines
As the first wave of swine flu vaccine crosses the country, more than a third of parents don’t want their kids vaccinated, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll.
Some of the parents say they are concerned about side effects from the new vaccine. After all vaccines of all kinds have caused serious problems in the past. Others say swine flu doesn’t amount to any greater health threat than seasonal flu. Which is also a valid argument.
It demonstrates that people are finally getting hip to vaccines like I said earlier in the week in another article. Like many drugs, food additives etc, these vaccines are pretty untested. It is the public who are the guinea pigs. And even if a vaccine worked flawlessly, by the time it gets to you it is useless against the strain you are faced with. The AP poll found that 38% of parents said they were unlikely to give permission for their kids to be vaccinated at school.
