Antioxidant Benefits of Pomegranate Juice

The pomegranate is a fruit-bearing shrub that is cultivated throughout India, the Middle East, southern Europe and California for its apple-sized fruit. The fruit contains a sack of seeds that can be consumed or processed into pomegranate juice.

Pomegranate juice is packed with many powerful health benefits. One of the biggest health benefits is the high levels of polyphenols found in pomegranates. Polyphenols are a group of chemical substances found in plants that may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Other reports show the possibility that pomegranate compounds might prevent prostate cancer or slow its growth.

I find that Pomegranate Juice is very tart so I usually mix mine with some other kind of juice or some club soda. I will warn you that pomegranate juice is very expensive. I drink POM Pomegranate Juice which runs about $8 for a 24oz. bottle. I figure $8 is a bargain for an antioxidant powerhouse like this.
