Do Allergies Get In The Way Of Your Sex Life?

You don’t typically think allergies and sex in the same sentence, but when polled, 83 percent of people with allergic rhinitis said it affected their sexual activity at least part of the time, with nearly 18 percent of those affected saying that allergies nearly always got in the way of a satisfying sex life.
Allergic rhinitis aka hay fever, affects 10 to 40 percent of the U.S. population. Symptoms can include a runny nose, congestion and sinus pressure. It’s indoor or airborne allergens such as pollens and dust mites that are the problem. Allergic rhinitis has also been linked to sleep problems.
The researchers polled about 700 people all told, about half had hay fever, asking questions about sexual function, sleep and fatigue. Those studied were in their late 30s to mid-40s, and those with allergic rhinitis were not being treated for their allergies.
About 17 percent of those with hay fever said they always or almost always noticed a bad affect on their sex life, where only 5 percent of those who did not have the condition said their sex life wasn’t good.
So if you want to improve your sex life, you may want to start by taking care of your allergies.
