Gruesome Cigarette Warnings On The WayWhat would make you stop stopping? A gruesome picture of a cancerous mouth with rotting teeth? That would be enough for some people. For others who are seriously addicted, it won’t do much. Regardless, that’s the goal of new federal regulations that are expected to go into effect within three years.

The new rules would require tobacco companies to cover at least half of the front and back of packages with graphic — and possibly gruesome — images illustrating the dangers of smoking.

But is this overkill? If this is the new way to stop people from doing bad things then we should probably also have beer bottles with graphic and bloody drunk-driving corpses on them, or candy packages that graphically display rotting teeth and the most disgusting diabetes disease photos.

Fair is fair after all. The truth is that our packaged and processed food supply in this country is responsible for far more death and illness than cigarettes. But the FDA is only interested in what its puppet masters tell it to do, so our food will continue to kill us and sicken us, with no gruesome labels whatsoever.

It’s all bad for you. So if you are going to be honest about what cigarettes do, then lets be honest about the rest. That’s all I’m saying.
