Tanning Beds Now Listed Among Top Cancer Risks
This probably comes as no surprise to many of you, but international cancer experts have moved tanning beds and other sources of ultraviolet radiation into the top cancer risk category.
A fresh analysis of about 20 previous studies concludes that if you start using tanning beds before age 30, your risk of skin cancer jumps by 75%. They also concluded that all types of ultraviolet radiation caused mutations in mice that are troubling, proof that radiation itself is carcinogenic. Previously, the thinking was that only one type of ultraviolet radiation was lethal.
The new classification means that tanning beds and other sources of ultraviolet radiation are definite causes of cancer. It has always seemed like common sense to me but some people need studies.
