A Vacation on the Lake Rejuvenates the Spirit

Vacation at the lake cabin this summer was fantastic. No laptop or cell phone on this trip; just a stack of books, fresh air, the serenity of Leech Lake, and the loon’s call.
I decided to try a lake cabin for a summer vacation this year. I have wanted to do this for quite some time and I finally found the opportunity this year. I have long since traded in my fishing pole for a sea kayak and I jump at every opportunity I have to get out on the lake.
There is something wonderful about the time leading up to a vacation. The anticipation of a vacation is one of the very few emotions that have carried over from my childhood. I still get excited when a vacation appears on the horizon. I suddenly adopt a short-timers attitude at work and I am surprisingly pleasant to be around.
It is amazing how after just a few days away from the hustle and bustle of my work-a-day world and all the stressful things seem to melt away. The things I thought so important just mere days ago seem not really to matter as much anymore.
Sadly, all vacations must come to an end. The only saving grace is that I know there will be another. This vacation was a pleasant success and I certainly plan on making this an annual retreat.
