Why I Dropped My Landline for a Cell Phone

I used to have a goal of becoming the last person in the world to own a cell phone. I prided myself on the fact that I was the only person in my circle of friends and family that wasn’t tethered their phone. Recently I had a change of heart and in a continual effort to simplify my life I decided to drop my landline and get a cell phone. This action forced me to abandon my ridiculous goal but improvise, adapt and overcome has always been my motto. It was a great move towards simplifying my life and I will tell you why.

  1. One Bill. A cell phone bill is a confusing list of charges but it is still only one bill.
  2. One Phone. No need to have multiple phones situated throughout my house anymore. No more replacing broken phones or dead batteries.
  3. The people calling my cell phone are calling for me. I no longer have to field calls for my wife. No more mother-in-law, brother-in-law, or chatty friends.
  4. With local number portability you can move your landline to your cell phone.
  5. Many plans have free in-network calling and unlimited night and weekend minutes.
  6. Your number won’t be listed in the phone book (this may not be a benefit to all).
  7. You can check messages anytime and anywhere.

Making the switch to a cell-phone-only household was surprisingly easy. Had I known it would be this simple I would have cut the cord years ago.

I am now going back to a landline and trying to use my cell phone as little as possible now that I know of the environmental impact and personal health impact of using a cell phone. If you use it in the car… the car is made of metal & makes the impact of rf radiation on your body worse plus the phone has to constantly rezone itself as the car moves so it works harder… hence more radiation for you or whoever is in the car with you. We need to fight for less cell companies because the more frequencies we have the worse effect on the environment. Just wait… in a few years, we will have so many incidents of brain cancer, just like Israel is experiencing now since they have been using cell phones for longer than us. http://www.celltowerfight.com lets fight back. Cancel your T-Mobile cell phone they are the worse at creating havoc on towns by pushing way to many cell towers on us all.
